World’s Smallest Mammal


The Bumblebee Bat is the world's smallest mammal with a body size of 1 - 1.3 inches and weighs in at a meagerly 2 gm, which, in comparison, is one third the weight of a 5 rupee coin.


World's Smallest Insect



The Fairy Wasp is the world's smallest insect. Although the Fairy Wasps belong to the family of Mymaridae they are often wrongly refered to as the Fairy Flies, due to their small size and fly like appearance. Most species of the Mymaridae are less than 1 mm long.


World's Smallest Bird



The Bee Hummingbird (Mellisuga helenae) is the world's smallest bird. It belongs to the family of Trochilidae. The Bee Hummingbird is less than 6 cm long and weighs approximately 2 grams.


World's Smallest Fish



The Paedocypris is claimed to be the world's smallest fish. It is only about 8 mm long.
